| Position Summary | Campus Recreation and Wellness Student Wellness Peer Health Educators are students who have made the decision to commit to a job in addition to their academic studies. The essential function of the Student Wellness Peer Health Educator is to assist and educate people towards a healthier lifestyle. All Student Wellness Peer Health Educators are required to complete an initial training period of division approved health related and wellness topics. In addition to an ongoing learning process in the field of health and wellness, Student Wellness Peer Health Educators are required to research and update, as needed, health and wellness issues pertinent to the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness. A key responsibility of this job is outreach and engagement. This involves setting up “education” stations across campus and engaging the campus community in health education/awareness activities. The position is a potential maximum of 20 hours per work employment. The Student Wellness Peer Health Educator can also expect to work some evenings and weekends as needed. Work schedules will be developed around classes and will be assigned based upon the needs of the Department. It will be the responsibility of the Student Wellness Peer Health Advocate’s immediate supervisor to assign the Peer Educator his/her work schedule. |
| Job Duties and Responsibilities | Student Wellness Peer Health Advocates are responsible for performing the duties within the area of student wellness in the department of Campus Recreation and Wellness. These duties are primarily concerned with executing general and efficient wellness promotion and support. Duties typically include: - Assist, as needed, with the daily operations of the Department of Campus Recreation and Student Wellness (e.g., creating bulletin boards/social media content for student wellness promotion, event logistics planning, connecting students to campus resources, etc.) - Planning and support of student wellness programs Program Evaluation and Analysis - Program Promotion - Program Attendance and Support - Wellness assessment and education on healthy lifestyle habits - Referrals to campus resources for wellness support Participation in many special outreach events such as: Annual Campus Recreation and Wellness Student Fair, Health Awareness Activities, and other special events as assigned. |
