| Position Summary | The Director of Legal Services works under the direction of the APSRC Executive Director in the Little Rock office and will manage legal matters for APSRC and be responsible for conducting legal research, representing the APSRC in hearings and providing legal assistance to charter schools and rural districts who are members of APSRC. |

Ability to research, analyze and interpret legislation and case-related information. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to education. Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information and reports. |

| Required Education and/or Experience | Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. At least three (3) years of legal experience in Arkansas, with background in education a plus. Other related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements. |

The Director of Legal Services works under the direction of the APSRC Executive Director in the Little Rock office and will manage legal matters for APSRC and be responsible for conducting legal research, representing the APSRC in hearings and providing legal assistance to charter schools and rural districts who are members of APSRC. Job Duties and Responsibilities Oversee other APSRC legal staff positions. Research cases, decisions, state and federal statutes, case law, state and federal rules and regulations as required. Research, review and interpret statutes pertaining to APSRC’s activities and membership. Draft positions on proposed legislation and rules that affect member schools. Write briefs, motions and pleadings as required. Provide technical assistance to charter school applicants in preparing charter applications and regulatory compliance. Review and analyze reports and records as required. Represent APSRC at legislative hearings, administrative hearings and other meetings as needed. Draft legislation and regulatory amendments.
